The Scoop on the UPC Youth Group

Youth ministry at University Presbyterian Church endeavors to glorify God and serve Jesus Christ through worship, study, service and fellowship.

Worship
  • Attend 8:30am or 11am Worship Service
  • Lead Worship at the 11am Service once a year (includes choosing theme, Scripture, music, and leading congregation in all areas of Worship)
  • Serve as ushers, readers, musicians, etc. at various times throughout the year

Study

  • Sunday School at 9:45 every Sunday, where we learn about our Christian beliefs and heritage and how that relates to our own personal spiritual formation.
  • Engage in Confirmation classes and one-on-one mentoring with older member of UPC for those who choose to become full members.
  • Time for reflection and Bible Study during many youth group activities.
  • Attending alternative Worship services from different Christian denomination and non-Christian faiths.

Service

  • Volunteering at MANNA & SAMM (now under Haven for Hope)
  • Annual Summer Mission Trip, which was at Ferncliff Presbyterian Camp in Little Rock, Arkansas in 2010
  • Spring Break Mission Trip, which was in Corpus Christi in 2010
  • Delivering Gifts to low-income families through House of Neighborly Service
  • Creating cookie jars for first-time visitors to enjoy
  • Assisting with Vacation Bible School, which will be held with Boysville this year.

Fellowship

  • Various fun games, their favorite of which is hide-and-seek in the CE building.
  • Bowling with other local churches
  • Mini-golf with other local churches
  • Mystery Trips (you don't know where you're going until you get there!)
  • Laser Tag
  • Schlitterbahn in May
  • Taking time to be tourists during our Mission Trips
  • Mo Rach for Mid-Winters in January (which is also a time for Worship & Study)
  • John Knox Ranch for Main Event in September (also Worship & Study)

Throughout the coming year the UPC youth will continue to explore new ways to worship God, study the written Word of God, experience fellowship with one another, and serve our brothers and sisters in Christ. If you have any questions about our Youth Group, please feel free to contact our Director of Christian Education, David Germer.
