How You Can Support the SoL Center

The SoL Center serves adults, regardless of their faith background, who seek to explore all aspects of religious faith in the 21st century. The Center organizes, sponsors, and co-sponsors classes, lecture series and dramatic and musical programs led by teacher-scholars and professionals. Our class leaders share their insights and viewpoints, applying their knowledge and experience on a broad range of subjects and encouraging open, respectful discussions and active learning by participants. In the ten years since the SoL Center was founded, approximately 5,000 people have enjoyed its enlightening programs. Your contributions in any amount, along with your continued participation in SoL Center events will enable us to continue our mission, enriching the understanding relationships and lives within and among the faith communities of San Antonio. If you wish to support the work of the SoL Center through a tax-deductible donation, please use the form below to indicate the amount of your gift and to provide your contact information.
If circumstances prevent you from making a monetary donation at this time, please know that there are many other ways you can support the work of the SoL Center. Extra hands and hearts are always welcome. Many hands are needed to assist with hospitality, special programs, and publicity. Please contact the SoL Center to indicate any special interests or talents you’d like to share. With your help, the SoL Center will continue to develop relevant and significant classes, to strengthen partnerships with other religious and educational groups, and to identify new ways in which to explore the role of spirituality and faith in our time.

SoL Center Hospitality
Hospitality at the SoL Center is provided by volunteers in the Ambassador program. Ambassadors are members of University Presbyterian Church or members of other faith groups in the community who volunteer for a year or more of service and attend annual training in preparation for their duties. They help to create an environment conducive to learning by being attentive to the needs of both the Instructors and class participants. They set the tables with class materials, assist the course Instructor as needed, prepare and serve refreshments, monitor classroom conditions, attend to the needs of class members, and clean up the room and food service at the end of each event. Ambassadors recommend programs to the director and give important feedback for quality assurance at our events. In return, Ambassadors are able to attend the classes at which they serve free of charge. This service helps to create a memorable experience. If you are interested in finding out more about becoming a volunteer in the Ambassador program, contact Lucy Greer Burton, director of the SoL Center, or Lou Williams, Ambassador coordinator.

SoL Center Board of Directors
SoL Center board members are the governing board of the center, serve three-year terms, and represent the broader San Antonio community.
