A 1940s Swing Music Afternoon with the Regency Jazz Band

  • University Presbyterian Church 300 Bushnell Avenue San Antonio, TX, 78212 United States (map)

Get ready to tap your feet and twirl around the floor! If that doesn't tempt you, then surely this will: Frito pie, a San Antonio original.

But that's just one of the delectable treats that will transport you back to the sights, sounds, and tastes of the 1940s.

All for great causes--to benefit the work of the SoL Center and to honor Barry Hubbard and Rev. Ann E Helmke, two individuals who have contributed tirelessly to their communities.

Barry, an active member of University Presbyterian Church for 20 years, helped shape the SoL Center during its early years. He joined the SoL Board in 2003, served as finance chair for several years, and as Chair of the Board from 2010-2011. He continues to be involved as a participant, patron and volunteer ambassador in support of the inclusive interfaith mission of the SoL Center.

Ann is the first Faith-Based Community Liaison for the City of San Antonio. She is a co-founder of the San Antonio peaceCENTER, an ordained Lutheran minister, and former Director of Spiritual Services at Haven for Hope. She has been actively serving in the San Antonio community for almost 30 years networking among many faiths with an emphasis on civic engagement.
