Scriptural Reasoning is a class designed for non-experts who enjoy reading their own sacred texts and have an interest in the sacred texts of others. It offers an opportunity for a small group to read texts of the Abrahamic traditions--Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The process was developed at the University of Cambridge, England, as a way to deepen understanding across religious traditions, foster friendship and help participants learn more about their own and others’ religious texts and practices. Narjis Pierre co-founded the San Antonio Muslim Women’s Association, and she has been a participant in the Tri-Faith Dialogue of San Antonio. From 9/11 on, she has been a speaker on the Qur’an and Islamic topics. She serves on the board of peaceCENTER of San Antonio. Narjis grew up and received her professional training in Switzerland. In 1984 she attended The American Institute of Qur’anic Studies, an experience that inspired her to convert to the Islamic faith. Narjis has been a private end-of-life caregiver for the last 14 years.
