Who is Jesus? with Prof. Ruben Dupertuis

This event will occur over three mornings from 10 a.m. - 12 Noon on Tuesday-Thursday, July 12th-14th. This course is recommended for those who will lead the PW/HORIZONS Bible Study. As with past years, if we are informed that people are registering as a group, and that group consist of four, a fifth person can come free of charge.

How we answer the question “who is Jesus?” depends on the “lens” through which we see this man and his evolving legacy. In these three sessions, students will examine how Jesus is presented in early Christian Gospels (both canonized and non-canonized), in the writings of the Apostle Paul, and by other key thinkers over the centuries. It is a question that people continue to ask today.

About the Instructor:  Ruben R. Dupertuis joined the Religion Department at Trinity University in 2006. He received a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Michigan, an M.A. in Theological Studies from Claremont School of Theology, and a Ph.D. in New Testament and Early Christian Literature from Claremont Graduate University. Prof. Dupertuis’ areas of interest include Acts of the Apostles, general Christian narrative, education in the ancient world, and the role of Bible in American popular culture.
