University Presbyterian Church offers many activities for High School and Junior High youth. Youth ministry at University Presbyterian Church endeavors to glorify God through fellowship, worship, study and service. Youth aging from 6th to 12th grade participate in a program designed to meet these goals each Sunday immediately following worship with a shared meal. Following lunch, middle and high school youth often alternate Sundays to participate in their own programming, which includes bible study, fellowship and service. They are joined by their pastor, Lib McGregor Simmons as well as two youth advisors - UPC members John and Jennifer Lawrence. Once
a month, both groups set out together to Destination: Unknown. The youth are unaware of their purpose or end when they begin the trip
but this is made clearer by the close of the trip. Once the destination is revealed to the
youth, the purpose is further illuminated through bible study or discussion
around the meaning and/or impact of the youth experiences of what happened that
day. Our
youth will also enjoy participating in youth conferences and fellowship
opportunities at other facilities. The
UPC Youth Group attends the Mission Presbytery Midwinter Youth Conferences each
year at Mo Ranch. Additionally, the
youth will join others from our cluster at The Main Event at John Knox in
October. Many of our youth participate
in Presbyterian summer camps individually and we offer scholarships for those
youth who are eligible. Throughout
the coming year the UPC youth will continue to explore ways to worship God,
experience meaningful bonds with one another through fellowship and serve our
brothers and sisters through mission.
